Structured Literacy
The curation and presentation of the resources provided with this articulation of the IDA Structured Literacy InfoMap involved a collaboration between the Virginia Branch of the International Dyslexia Association and the National Center for Improving Literacy.

Resources have been curated to explain the components of the Structured Literacy InfoMap and to provide information related to instruction and rationale for these components. These curated resources may be accessed by following this link:

In brief, Structured Literacy is a comprehensive, integrated approach to reading and writing instruction that directly and systematically builds on and develops oral language while explicitly teaching the structure of written language. Using this research-based approach, educators integrate the teaching of the foundational and higher-order skills and knowledge needed to develop proficient reading comprehension and written expression.
