VBIDA Scholarships: Each year VBIDA awards two scholarships.
Purpose: The purpose of the VBIDA Scholarship Fund is to provide funds to a student in need of assistance with funding services that meet the remediation needs of the student. Each year, VBIDA awards two scholarships. They are:
Max Oley Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is awarded to a student with dyslexia to help offset the expenses for multisensory tutoring as defined by IDA. The proceeds of $1,500 are distributed directly to the tutor of the student selected.
VBIDA General Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student with dyslexia to help offset the cost of attending a school that serves students with dyslexia. The proceeds of $1,500 are distributed directly to the school.

2021 Teacher Training Scholarships from Wilson Language
On Giving Tuesday, the VBIDA Executive Committee to announce the winners of the scholarships to attend Wilson Language trainings in December 2021. Wilson Language is one of the programs that have been approved by the International Dyslexia Association as aligning with the IDA Knowledge and Practice Standards. We thank Wilson for their generous donation.
As part of the October Dyslexia Awareness Month activities, we asked for teacher nominations to receive a seat in each of the Wilson trainings offered. Please watch this video to hear of the Virginia teachers who are the recipients of these scholarships!
All teachers will be notified by email of their scholarship award and will be connected with a Wilson Language representative to register for the trainings. VBIDA thanks Wilson Language for making these scholarships available to teachers in Virginia!!
